Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1961 Jaguar XK-SERIES recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. The problems are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, component, and specific issue. See also an updated list of 1961 Jaguar XK-SERIES problems before buying a used car. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.

Upon sale, this classic Jaguar will be delivered to the new owner with an original Jaguar tool roll, matching spare wire wheel and tire, jack, knock-off tools and spinner wrench, oilers, and T-handle to lock the floor covering the spare well. This remarkably original Jaguar has a well-documented ownership history that began with a US Army officer originally based in South Carolina, who later resided in northwest Illinois through 1969. The vehicle would sell to its second Illinois owner in 1970 and stay in his possession until 1996. Under his possession, the owner commissioned an exterior repaint in mid-1990 with the addition of new chrome stainless steel wire wheels along with new interior appointments sourced directly from England that included seat leathers, headliner, and Wilton carpet throughout the interior. In 1997, this example would then trade hands again with just more than 68k miles on the odometer, to a collector in Moline, IL who cared for the classic for the next 7 years. This enthusiastic new owner made several more improvements to the mechanicals not limited to re-coring the original radiator with new upper and lower fan shrouds, new rear springs and shock absorbers, along with the rebuild of the front suspension, improved the braking system with upgraded stainless steel liners and seal kits, new brake pads, re-porcelained the exhaust manifolds with all new installation hardware, re-chromed the bumpers and over-riders, among other items like wheel bearings, grease seals, stainless steel exhaust system, and carburetor rebuilding just to name a few. The resulting Jaguar was in fine form and received another 8,500 miles to odometer under his ownership being enjoyed at club events and seasonal shows. In 2004 it would sell again, but this time to a collector in Fort Collins, CO who maintained possession for 12 years. The vehicle would then trade hands with approximately 77k miles on the odometer in 2016, eventually landing in the Houston, Texas area. Once in Texas, the owner would commission Norwood Auto Italia to thoroughly inspect and repair any necessary leaks or recommended items to ensure this worthy Jaguar was ready for confident enjoyment on the road. This inspired the following to be completed in March 2017 and is listed in the provided receipts photos totaling $14,611. The largest of the items was a complete reseal of the entire engine and its components, along with a total overhaul of the original gearbox with a new clutch kit installed. With this service came all new fluids, front end suspension parts, engine mounts, transmission mounts, and more. Additionally, the upholstery was once again renewed with fresh leathers front and back. It was driven and enjoyed through to the mileage shown today at 78,358 miles. An engine compression check completed in November 2019 showed very strong and consistent numbers ranging from 146-152 psi across all cylinders. The body and paintwork continue to show quite well with plenty of luster considering their age, with excellent bright work and chrome. A truly remarkable car overall, both visually and the way it performs on the road! It will make for a rare addition to any Jaguar collection, especially if seeking a very well appointed XK150 Fixed Roof example.
