Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1994 Porsche 911 recalls can be found in this database. Full Description: The Speedster name is deeply rooted in Porsches history dating back to 1954 when the 356 Speedster was introduced in response to a request from Porsches US distributor the legendary Max Hoffman. He asked Porsche for a decontented and less expensive variant of the 356 that could be sold under $3000 to compete with the less costly British sports cars such as MGs and Triumphs. Despite being the least expensive Porsche available when new the elemental experience and rakish looks made the Speedster the most valuable 356 variant by the 1980s by which time interest in collector cars was surging. The surge in interest in the Speedster did not escape Porsches notice in the 1980s and the company showed a Speedster concept in 1983 that featured much the same treatment that the 356 received. A productionized version appeared for the 1989 model year a fitting way to send off the venerable torsion bar suspended impact bumper 911 before the substantially revised 964 appeared later that year. Porsche did the same for the 964 at the end of its production life introducing a Speedster variant of the 964 in 1993 incorporating simplified door panels lower windscreen hard tonneau cover to replace the rear seats more rudimentary lightweight convertible top. Coupled with the substantial technical innovations of all 964s such as McPherson strut suspension twin plug ignition and ABS the 964 Speedster was appreciably more advanced than the 1989 Speedster. It was also available with a host of special options not offered on any other 964 in the US market the tastiest of which were the optional Recaro hard back sport seats with tri color inserts. Contrasting accents on the gauge surround shift boot emergency brake handle and door pulls were also offered as were colored keyed wheels. This particular car is an exceptionally clean 35000 mile example which is equipped with all the Speedster-specific (in the US) options: hard back sport seats contrasting interior accents and color coded wheels and finished in Guards Red it is thus in exactly the configuration displayed in Porsches factory sales brochure specific to the 964 Speedster. Collector owned this car received a comprehensive detail and service by Canepa to their famously high standards and is accordingly in superb order. In the last 2500 miles and six years the car has received over $17000 in maintenance from Carlsen Porsche including miscellaneous new suspension bushings drop links clutch master and slave cylinders mixing flap motor belts battery and brake fluid. A major service including valve adjustment and new spark plugs was also performed and the timing chain covers resealed. New tires and a set of coilovers were also installed and the car aligned.
